A small bit about me.
I’m considered a Senior Graphic Designer because of my skills and experience—but I feel I am a bit more than what you might think. From an early age, I pressed my mom’s patience by always tinkering with anything I could find. Old or broken radios, or anything I could gather to make a fort or other building project. Working with my hands (and brain) has always been my thing, and now I enjoy tinkering with my designs until they are exactly what I envisioned.
My many years of experience working at Sac State have afforded me some awesome opportunities to challenge myself with fun and creative projects, from designing my first forty-foot billboard (and actually installing it), to designing multiple sets for live and taped video productions.
My first passion was print design, but with the advancements of software and technology, the next steps in my evolution were pushing myself to learn HTML and CSS, designing websites, and building interactive displays. I am always looking for the next challenge.
On the personal side, I am a father of two great kids. Well, they are not kids anymore (23 year old twin brother and sister)! I have lived here in the Sacramento area for more than 30 years. I grew up in Los Angeles and attended college in Thousand Oaks, California. Work and a relationship brought me here to northern California.
I love being near the mountains, rivers, lakes, and ocean. I enjoy doing anything outside, exploring new places, hiking, reading science fiction, and tinkering with anything I find that needs tinkering. You might call me a geek with electronics, but I do enjoy getting back into my motorcycle gear! (Mid-life crisis?)
A line from a Glen Phillips song pretty much sums up my way of thinking: “If there's work to be done, / There's these two strong hands.” If I can use my hands to make something work, then that’s what I’m going to do.
I look forward to the next chapter of my life and career.
